This page explains the cookies and similar technologies used on www.ediawards.co.uk, what each one does, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our privacy policy.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let a site remember things between pages (that you are part-way through a booking, for example) and are widely used to make websites work.
Cookies this site sets
We keep cookies to the minimum needed to run the site. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.
- Essential website cookies. WordPress, which this site runs on, sets a small number of cookies to check that your browser accepts cookies and to keep you signed in if you have an account with us. Most visitors will never have an account.
- Shopping and checkout cookies. When you add tickets to your basket, WooCommerce sets cookies that remember what is in your basket and keep your session going through checkout. Without these, buying a ticket would not work.
- Security cookies. We use Google reCAPTCHA on our forms to stop automated spam. Google sets cookies to tell people and bots apart. This is described in Google’s own privacy policy.
Cookies we do not use
This site carries no analytics, advertising or social media tracking cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, and we have deliberately turned off the order-source tracking that our shopping software offers, because it sets cookies recording where visitors came from and we have no need for that information.
Other third-party requests
Two things on this site load from another company’s servers, which means your device makes a request to them and they can see your IP address:
- Google Fonts, which supplies the typeface used across the site.
- Google reCAPTCHA, which protects our forms.
Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies through your browser settings. The help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all explain how. Blocking essential and shopping cookies will stop parts of this site working, in particular buying tickets. The guidance at ico.org.uk explains cookies and your choices in more detail.
Changes to this policy
If we add or remove cookies we will update this page. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
