About the Awards

Inspiring Communities, Recognising Success

Welcome to the EDI Awards, a celebration of equality, diversity, and inclusion across the Tees Valley. Formerly known as the BME Achievement Awards, we have proudly recognised the outstanding contributions of individuals and organisations in our community for 14 years.

Established in 2009, our awards have become a cornerstone event in the Tees Valley, showcasing the remarkable talents and achievements within our Black and Minority Ethnic communities. As our society and the dynamics within it have evolved, so too has our mission. We understand that inclusion goes beyond ethnic background, embracing all aspects of diversity such as gender, disability, sexual orientation, and more. This broader vision inspired our transition to the EDI Awards.

This name change represents not just a shift in focus, but an expansion of our commitment. The EDI Awards are dedicated to celebrating and fostering an environment where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. By recognising a wider array of achievements, we aim to inspire change and promote a more inclusive community.

This year, we are excited to expand our categories from 14 to 18, offering more opportunities to honor excellence in equality, diversity, and inclusion. Each award category is designed to highlight the varied ways individuals and organisations contribute to making Tees Valley a better place for everyone.

Join us as we continue to celebrate the spirit of inclusivity and the powerful impact of diversity in our community. Through the EDI Awards, we are not only recognising achievement but also encouraging a dialogue that champions a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
