2024 Awards
Tees Valley EDI Awards Ceremony
18th October 2024
Who can be involved
The EDI Awards are dedicated to celebrating and acknowledging the diverse contributions and achievements across Tees Valley. Originally known as the BME Achievement Awards, our platform has evolved to encompass a broader vision of equality, diversity, and inclusion, while continuing to recognise the unique challenges faced by underrepresented groups.
For over 14 years, the Tees Valley BME Achievement Awards responded directly to the scarcity of programs, initiatives, and events designed specifically for BME individuals and organisations committed to promoting equality of opportunity. With the transition to the EDI Awards, our commitment has expanded to include all aspects of diversity, embracing the provisions of the Equality Act 2010. We aim to foster a truly inclusive environment where no group or individual feels excluded.
The EDI Awards encourage involvement and nominations from all sectors of the community. They serve as a crucial platform for recognising the significant contributions that our diverse populations make to Tees Valley. For more than a decade, we have celebrated talent and showcased excellence from various sectors through this unique ceremony. It pays homage to leaders and changemakers who, without this annual event, might go unrecognised.
Shazia Hussain, former BME Awards coordinator and current EDI Awards facilitator, notes,
“The EDI Awards represent a critical platform for acknowledging the contributions that our diverse communities make across Tees Valley. As we continue to grow and adapt, this ceremony remains a beacon for promoting a more equitable and inclusive future.”
